Levant | Our Story

A love letter to heritage and home

A love letter to heritage and home

Levant is a modern Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of downtown Petaluma — rooted in Palestinian and Middle Eastern heritage, inspired by California, and built around the simple belief that great food brings people together.
Four people, one shared dream

Four people, one shared dream

Levant was founded by Issa Musallam and Saheer Kassis alongside Art Herzallah and Monyca Currier-Herzallah, who brought 25+ years of Bay Area hospitality and their celebrated Palestinian restaurant Freekeh in SF's Mission District. Together they built a place that honors where they come from — and belongs to Petaluma.

House-made labneh, spiced meats, warm flatbreads, mezze meant to be passed and shared — each dish draws from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine. Locally sourced ingredients bring a fresh California dimension to generations of tradition.

A table set for everyone

Every guest who walks through the door is welcomed like family — whether they grew up eating mansaf or are tasting it for the very first time. This is Levant's table, and it's set for everyone.
